Yoghurt project
Yoghurt is a semi-solid, fermented dairy product with a smooth texture and a mildly sour flavor. It is produced by adding specific live bacterial cultures (primarily Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus) to milk. The process, known as fermentation, involves these bacteria converting the milk's natural sugar (lactose) into lactic acid. This acid causes the milk proteins to thicken and gives yoghurt its characteristic tangy taste and preserved shelf life. Yoghurt is widely recognized as a "superfood" due to several key benefits: it contains probiotics (live cultures) that balance gut bacteria. It is a rich source of calcium, phosphorus, and often Vitamin D, which are essential for maintaining bone density and preventing osteoporosis. Also, because the fermentation process breaks down lactose, many people who are lactose intolerant find yoghurt much easier to digest than plain milk.
